Research papers, summarized and read aloud

For researchers, engineers and students with a reading list longer than their week.

Refine reads the paper so you can decide in two minutes whether it deserves an afternoon, and keeps what you learned from the ones that do.

What you get for each paper

• A two-minute summary: the question, the method in a line, the result, and why it matters.
• A longer read, section by section, keeping the paper's own terms, equations and figures' meaning.
• Listen to it. On a commute or a walk, with each word lit as it's read when you're looking.
• A concept map of how the paper's ideas depend on each other.
• Short reviews afterwards, so the result is still there when you cite it.

arXiv and PDFs

Open an arXiv preprint or any PDF you have. Refine reads the full text, not just the abstract.

Where it falls short

A summary is a way into a paper, not a substitute for checking its methods. When the details matter, the full text is one tap away.

Refine also summarizes textbooks chapter by chapter.
